Now in its 8th year, the UK glass industry's H&S initiative, the GLASS Charter, continues to go from strength to strength, delivering benefits to all sizes of organisation & all sectors. The initiative was launched in 2001 to help organisations remain focused on the importance of H&S in the workplace. It adopted the following target: "Organisations in the UK glass industry will contribute towards a 30% or equivalent reduction in lost-time accidents." The initiative was the first of its kind & gave much needed information, guidance & two-way consultation, ensuring support was provided to the industry at every level. With the benefits quickly realised, the GGF joined the table, expanding membership of the scheme beyond manufacture and processing to encompass all sectors of the UK glass industry.
