Glaverbel has not yet made the final decision on where it will build its new flat glass plant for the automotive industry. "The decision could be made soon, maybe in July", said spokesman Petr Maxa on 30/05/06. Usti Regional Office in the Czech Republic has approved the plan to build a new glass works in Teplice-Retenice, which is one of the localities under consideration in Central & E.Europe, according to the Czech Environmental Office. According to the documentation, which the company has presented for environmental impact assessment, Glaverbel plans to produce 180,000/t sheet glass from 255,000/t melted parison. The company intends to invest around EUR 100M & start building work on the 45,000/sq.m plant in Oct/06 for completion by Nov/07. The plant will employ 71 in a three-shift system. Gleverbel Czech is the largest flat glass maker in Central & E. Europe. Glaverbel is part of the company Asahi Glass, the world's largest glass producer.
