Glassy Sand Process Improvements

The use of glassy sand continues to be an important solution for the glass container industry because it improves the glass itself and container quality. It also performs significant environmental benefits due to energy savings, the increased use of recycled cullet and the consequent reduction of unused cullet landfill. In this article, the authors discuss the latest glassy sand process improvements realised by Italian-based SASIL, to improve quality, melting behaviour and other criteria, including cooperation with Freiberg University.
