Glassware Manufactured On The Basis Of Cullet Containing Heavy Metal Oxides

In the last few years the amount of collected and dismounted scrap has increased considerably in the FRG. The cullet obtained can be processed quite easily, however, this is not the case with TV tubes & monitors. Various technologies are used to remove the coating or harmful substances, but, so far there are very few possibilties to recycle the remaining glass. Attempts to use crushed tube glass as package bedding in road construction are known & cone glass can also be used in the lead smelting industry, but adapted recycling should be aimed at using the image tube material, which means, the application of high-quality glass as a basic material for glass products. The efforts of Philips at Ondraczek are reported.
