Glassmelt Properties Database For Process Modeling

An upcoming book includes a comprehensive and reliable database for commercial glassforming melts that allows full use of numerical simulation models. Produced under the guidance of the NSF Industry/University Centre for Glass Research (CR) and with funding from the US DOE Industrial Technologies,Program, researchers at Alfred University, the Lab or Glass Properties (St Petersburg, Russia) have developed a database for the benefit of glass manufacturers who model glassmelting and glassforming processes. The overall goal of the study has been to develop a high-temperature melt properties database with sufficient reliability to allow mathematical modelling of glassmelting and glassforming processes for improved product quality, improved efficiency and lessened environmental impact.
