Conservatories, or Orangeries as they were originally known, started life in the 17th century as brick or stone rooms with large windows and doors to provide enough light for the nurturing of young and exotic plants. Today the design of conservatories has changed beyond recognition with both consumers and architects demanding more and more elaborate designs, predominantely featuring an abundance of glass with very little framework. This article describes the latest glazing and treatments Pilkington have to offer.
