Glass Stoppers Boom For Wine

Over 14M glass stoppers are expected to be sold to 500 wineries worldwide this year by the supplier Alcoa, the company said. Alcoa attributes the success of the product to its prevention of cork taint and to consumer's preferences for glass stoppers above screw caps. Screw caps are being associated with lower priced wine by consumers. The glass stoppers sold as Vino-Lok in Europe and Vino Seal in the USA, have an upmarket image and are associated with more expensive wines, Alcoa claims.
