Recycling company Recresco is investing £1.5M in advanced glass recycling equipment at its Ellesmere Port site in Merseyside. The site will become one of the largest in the UK. The facility, which is being funded by Alliance & Leicester, will sort mixed coloured glass into single colour streams. Recresco MD Graham Gent said: "Colour sort technology is spectacularly effective and will play a crucial part in delivering cost-effective waste reduction solutions for the UK." A&L business development manager Iain Bomberg added: "We have seen an increase in the amount of funding we provide to the waste management sector and are now one of the largest lenders under the Equip scheme."
