Recent mergers and developments in the US container industry are discussed. Soft drink bottlers are worried at the near monopoly supply position with less price competition among glass suppliers. PET and aluminium prices are rising, and so glass manufacturers are hoping for a resurgence of glass in beer and soft drinks bottles.
