Glass Packaging Developments

Glass is seen to be the preferred packaging medium for soft drinks products sold in pubs and hotels, with non-returnable bottles being favoured onto he basis of quality, branding, storage, disposal and administration. Lightweight, decorated glass packaging appears to be playing a significant part in the growth of premium packaged spirits. High-impact all-round shrink sleeve labels or dynamic no-label-look pressure sensitive labels have been used to create product appeal in the premixed spirits category. Young consumers, particularly women, are increasingly drinking direct from glass bottles. Developments in efficient and cost-effective delivery of new and redesigned glass packaging containers are discussed. Equipment capable of delivering the Clear Advantage no-label-look decorating technique has been introduced in the UK.
