The history of Murano Glass is one of the most fascinating, interesting and longest among those of glass articles produced in other parts of the world. Fascinating because of the beauty, originality and uniqueness. Many museums all over the world exhibit masterpieces created in Murano by excellent artists, the so called "maestri vetrai" - glassmasters. These artists have been, and still are, the real wealth of Murano with their capacity, tenacity, fantasy, capabilities to devise and develop new techniques to create new objects and shapes. This article examines the history of how this, one of the most famous artistic glass production areas of Europe was born and has evolved over time.
