Glass Manufacture With The Help Of Electrical Energy

Experience gained from many years involvement in the development of glass-melting furnaces has shown that the most common and efficient sources of energy used for melting glass are natural gas, oil and electrical power. The benefits derived from using electric power in the glass melting process are briefly reviewed in this paper, and the advantages of using an electrical power source with thyristor (SRC) controls and the recently introduced Bernard Bonnefond method of power management are discussed.
