The glass industry in Israel has been facing strong challenges in recent years, notably those associated with the high cost of natural gas and the overwhelming import of cheap glass products. Then, the government became involved, throwing a lifeline to manufacturers with the introduction of higher import duties. This measure has worked out well, although it is clear that, according to this article, this alone will not be enough to make the industry successful in the years to come.
