The Glass Industry Of The Czech Republic

This article presents an overview of the glass industry of the Czech Republic. The only producer of large-size flat glass in the Czech Republic is Glaverbel Czech, now AGC Flat Glass Europe, which is at present the biggest producer and processor of flat glass in Central and Eastern Europe. It is controlled by Asahi Glass. With regard to textile glass fibres and products in the Czech Republic, there is only one manufacturer, Saint-Gobain Vertex. The most important Czech producers of domestic glass are Crystalex Novy Bor; Sklo Bohemia; Sklarny Bohemia; and Sklarny Kavalier. Primary glass container manufacturers are OI and Vetropack Moravia Glass which together hold around 90% of the domestic container glass market.
