Glass Industry And M&A Activity In The Usa - Part 1

In past issues of Kanch, some management papers were published with one article on the special topic of anti-competition law (ACL) and its effect on India that was based on a one-day seminar, organised by AIGMF in New Delhi June 2013. In reality, different aspects of ACL were discussed in terms of trade associations. Although not so pervasive, glass industry in India has a long way to go in dealing with ACL and also to speed up the activity on "mergers & acquisitions" (M&A), as distinctly observed in the USA. Based on some information from the US, two articles have been written on this issue to encourage the Indian glass industry to develop expertise and to actively participate in not only taking over relatively smaller companies in India, but also to acquire some medium-size companies abroad that go very cheap sometimes. Part 1 of this article examines the different aspects of M&A.
