Glass Furnace Draining Comes Of Age

Furnace draining involves the recovery of glass from a furnace during shutdown prior to either repair or new build . Quite often the same technique is also used to drop the level of the glass in the furnace, or is extended to flush the furnace during changes in glass type/colour or testing of new production techniques. In this article, the authors provide an overview of the methods and techniques used for the draining of glass furnaces.
