Glass can be used in any number of applications from windows and doors, furniture and fittings to walls and flooring. To ensure that the glass used is fit for purpose, there are many standards which define everything from glass safety performance to its visual and aesthetic appearance. Given the nature of glass as a product it is not always obvious if the product meets the required standards, some indications are given through stamps on the glass or near to its application, however others can only be sourced as a separate certificate direct from the manufacturer. Guardian has produced a useful list to help identify the standards relevant to different glass products and applications. Areas included are: Acoustics for Glass; Glass for Interiors; Applied Loadings to Glass; Security; Safety; Thermal Insulation; Fire Performance; Glazing; Glass; The use of Glass in Transport; Associated Standards.
