Evidence must be irrefutable in order to achieve justice. The present databases used are inadequate but for many that work in the field, compiling a new one is impracticable. Can the glass manufacturers make a contribution and supply information for comprehensive databases so as to ensure that justice is done to both science and people? Bill Lee (consultant) and Bryce Howard (of British Glass) whom both act as expert witnesses where glass has been used as part of the evidence against a defendant in a criminal case or one of the litigants in a civil case, were invited by the Midlands Section of the Society of Glass Technology to discuss the use of glass in forensic evidence in both civil and criminal cases and present conclusions drawn from their experiences.
