Gerresheimer Acquires Majority Stake In Chinese Packaging Company

German-based Gerresheimer Group has acquired a majority interest in one of the leaders in pharmaceutical packaging in China - the Shuangfeng Group, with the acquisition of over 60% of the shares in each location related company, thereby entering the Chinese market for tubular glass packaging for the first time. An additional production plant is currently being built on a greenfield site so that expansion can be realised. The Shuangfeng Group makes around 800M pharmaceutical vials p/a with sales of around 10M Euros expected this year. In 2005 the Gerresheimer Group acquired a 45.7% share in the Chinese specialist for moulded glass, Beijing Wheaton (now known as Beijing Gerresheimer).
