After a successful start up, fI Glass GmbH, located in Osterweddingen, Germany, focussing on the production of high end solar glass & subsequent processing into the finished product, is now manufacturing up to 700/tpd. The first flash tests under standardized test conditions (STC) have confirmed that fI Solarfloat achieves "Unsurpassed values for energy input into the solar module and thereby increases the solar yield." The new float glass plant - first of its kind worldwide - is a joint venture between Dutch Scheuten Group and Interpane Glas Industrie AG and, thanks to the special design of the melting tank & the materials used, carries out the fully continuous production of extremely low-iron solar float glass. The plant, which employs 250 people, is also equipped to respond to the requirements of the solar industry by means of magnetron sputtering.
