Glass melting & conditioning specialist Sorg has announced it is to enter the float glass sector, having signed a collaborative agreement to supply float furnace technology on the open market. The agreement was recently signed between Sorg & the companies involved in the design, construction & operation of one of Europe's most modern float installations, which was commissioned in the summer of 2009. Sorg is now able to offer this float glass furnace technology on the open market. In a statement, Sorg said its partner in the agreement (unnamed) has "detailed know-how & practical knowledge of float plant design & operation," while Sorg itself brings to the collaboration its experience of all types of continuous melter cross-fired, end-fired, regenerative, recuperative, fossil fuel, oxy-fuel & all electric, combined with its familiarity with a range of glasses.
