Germany - From The Grape To The Glass

Wine has always been associated with the temperature zones of the Earth, and namely, with the Mediterranean, so it is difficult to think of productive vineyards growing in northern countries. Yet, some of the best wines are produced in Germany, despite the country's fame as one of the biggest beer-drinkers worldwide. After a brief look at the evolution of viticulture, this article concentrates on the most important German grape varieties, illustrating the styles of glasses that best suit the different wines.
