The history of German glassmaking began during the Roman empire with the expansion of its culture across Europe, continuing after its fall. This article takes a look at the various steps in glassmaking during the ages, from experiments with precious and semi-precious stones and, later, the Venetian influence. New styles during the Renaissance period and cutting and engraving in the XVI century are also mentioned, leading up to today's designers and craftsmen.
