Futuristic Design And Sun Protection

The latest figurehead of the Frankfurt-based Radisson SAS hotel group, Blue Heaven, with its 428 4* hotel rooms glass facade of 11,400 sq.m, is protected from excessive solar radiation by Interpane's Ipasol Blue 40/23. The hotel, with the round front rising 96m into the sky, dominates the cityscape. A blue glass cube, framed by two crescent facade elements gives the hotel its futuristic shape. The glass facade, made of Ipasol Blue, provides a low total energy transmittance (24%) and effective thermal insulation (Ug-value 1.2) at a relatively high light transmittance (40%). The finely tuned light and radiation values of the solar control glazing improves the working and living atmosphere inside the hotel. The glazing improves the buildings energy balance, as less cooling is required during the summer.
