Fusion Cast Refractories For The Glass Industry

The terms fusion cast or fused cast are similar to electrocast in providing a description of the essential features of their manufacturing process. This consists of melting a refractory batch in an electric furnace. The homogenous liquid material is then cast into moulds of the desired shape. This article looks at the origin and development, the typical manufacturing process, properties and applications to the glass industry.
