The inaugural Furnace Solutions meeting of the Society of Glass Technology is to be held May 25 at the premises of Ceram, in Stoke-on-Trent. This meeting has been conceived & put together by the Society's Glass Batch Furnace & Refractories Committee, chaired by Chris Windle of DSF Refractories. Speakers will propose practical answers & share experiences relevant to today's glass melting challenges. Presentations will discuss raw materials & cullet; furnace design & refractories; furnace operation; energy efficiency; & pollution control. The committee expects a successful conference which is proposed to develop into an annual event to serve the glassmaking community throughout Europe.
