Functional Coatings Obtained On Glass By Sol-Gel Processes (In French)

Recent advances in sol-gel chemistry, especially the development of sols containing dispersed nanopowders, crystalline or not, and whose surface can be modified by functional molecules (Nanomer) has opened the possibility to coat transparent substrates presenting attractive industrial applications. This paper briefly describes some recent achievements obtained at INM, such as coloured coatings, coatings for decoration, for improvement of the fracture resistance of glasses, multilayer interference coatings, microstructured coatings, easy-to-clean coatings, photochromic coatings, coatings with high electrical conductivity and electrochromic devices. Their physical and chemical properties were tested accordingly to industry norms.
