Friction experiments between hot television glass and a commercial 13% Cr-steel, uncoated and coated with Cr and NiW have been performed with a pressing-friction apparatus on a laboratory scale. Also, the influence and friction reducing effects of several commercial lubricants have been studied. The results showed that friction coefficients measured at contact temperatures above 540 deg C, which is about 80 deg C below sticking temperature, already start increasing sharply. For NiW the lowest friction coefficients were obtained. The effective life-time of the lubricants has been tested as a funciton of the number of pressing-friction cycles.
