[France] Price Increase For Glass Packaging

After steel and plastics, it is the turn of glass to announce a price increase, in the region of 5%. The CSVMF (Professional Chamber Mechanical Glass Producers of France) has announced that the sector is faced with an overall increase in production costs, in terms of raw materials and energy, but also for moulds, due to the increase in costs of cast iron and steel. There have also been cost increases for the palette plastic shrink-wrapping and logistics costs from 5% to over 10%. In 2003, the French container glass industry recorded a turnover of more than Euros 2BN. It has a workforce of 10,000 and produces 4M tonnes/pa.
