Saverglass has opened a new factory with a 5th furnace on the Arc International site in Saint-Omer. This increases glass output by 90,000/tpa which is a 40% increase on the current Feuquieres & Le Harve capacity. The new factory is named Alphaglass. A sixth production line is being launched at Alphaglass, the new plant of Saverglass located in Arques, northern France, several weeks before the initial schedule. Another step forward, for the French glassmaker specialised in luxury and high-end products. Alphaglass is the third production unit of the company and was created on a site bought to Arc International in 2007. Effective January 2009, the Alphaglass production unit will be headed by Jacques Parisseaux, the former General Director for the European Area of Arc International. The Alphaglass plant started its activities in June this year, with a new 300-tons-a-day oven. “The factory produces extra-white glass. The more glass we produce, the more flexibility we generate for all the segments we are supplying. That is to say vials, the models Design Saverglass, the extreme formats, and upon-request formats. Both the increased capacity and increased flexibility are obtained through production transfers from a plant to another,” Didier Rica, sales and marketing director, explains.
