France's Languedoc region is suffering a bottle shortage and one producer is now unable to fulfill orders, while another is ready to switch to a UK bottler. Jean-Claude Mas of Les Domaines Paul Mas said 19 Feb: "As of this month, for my top selling white wine, I have zero glass stock and an order for 36,000 bottles," His company sold over 9M bottles of wine in 2007. "I have no plan B." Another Languedoc producer, David Rowledge of Alchemy Wines, out of stock of a similar bottle, is ready to switch to a UK bottling plant. The move will solve Alchemy's supply problem and meet UK supermarket demands for eco-friendly wines by reducing transport emissions, Mr. Rowledge said. A spokesperson for Saint Gobain would only say that more bottles had been produced so far in 2008 than in the same period in 2007.
