Four Decades Of Change In Fibre Glass

This paper focuses on some of the issues and challenges that the fibre glass industry has dealt with over four decades from 1950 to 1990. From the high performance fibres of the 1950s Cold War and space race to the era through the environmental awakening of the 1960s and the energy crisis of the 1970s to the health issues of the 1980s to the fall of the Iron Curtain and the emergence of new markets and corporate cultures of the 1990s. This paper addresses some of the journey.
