Foodmaker Trebles Glass Recycling

Glass recycling at Premier International Foods ambient products factory, east of Manchester, has trebled during the first three months of a trade waste minimisation programme. Premier acquired the factory from Nestle in May. Its products include honey, peanut butter, pickles and salad dressings and it uses glass containers made by Rockware at Wheatley. The firm wanted to cut waste by 10%. As part of its campaign it has 50 wheeled bins supplied by Berryman to collect glass lost from the line before filling. Berryman collects waste glass at 24 hours notice for delivery to Rockware's factory for use as cullet. (whole item)
