Food Standards Agency - First Report Of Food Incidents

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has recently published its first report of Food Incidents. This reports that of the major categories of incidents Physical contamination (plastic, glass, metal) accounted for 10% i.e. of 1342 incidents 140 related to Physical contamination (see p6 of above report). Of the 26 Food Alerts issued due to Physical contamination - 9 of these were due to glass (p56). However, no details are given, so this may not necessarily be due to contamination from the container but may be due to accidental contamination by other means.
