Food Contact: Analytical Method For Ceramic Articles

Commission Directive 2005/31/EC of 29 April 2005, amending Council Directive 84/500/EEC as regards a declaration of compliance and performance criteria of the analytical method for ceramic articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, was published in the Official Journal on 30th April, 2005, L110/36. The parent Directive 84/500 relating to ceramic articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, is amended in order to lay down an obligation to require that all such materials are accompanied by a written declaration stating that they comply with the rules applicable to them. The Commission Directive also updates the currently permitted method for the analysis for lead and cadmium, in order to take account of technological progress, and specifies performance criteria that the analytical method must comply with.
