Foam Ceramics: Part 1 - Applications And Processing Routes

Foam ceramics offer an interesting range of properties to the engineer. They come in many different structures and pore size but basically consist of a series of cells which can be connected or disconnected. They have already found application in low mass kiln furniture and metal filtration and are currently being evaluated for a wide range of further applications such as hot gas and diesel particulate filtration, thermal protection systems and biomaterials.
