F&N Invests Rm 130M To Build Two More Furnaces

The glass container division of Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd has invested RM130M to build 2 new furnaces at its facilities in China & Malaysia. The investment includes a second furnace for the company's subsidiary Sichuan Malaya Glass and a third furnace for another subsidiary, Malaya Glass Products. The division posted operating profits of RM 26.4M for the year ending September 30 2006. Its revenue was RM 314M. The company says its joint venture glass plant near Bangkok in Thailand would be operation by August 2007. The firm's core businesses are in soft drinks, dairy products and glass packaging.
