Fluroine Gall, Fluorine In Opaque Glass

During melting of fluorine opals, gall or scum formation will occur at the surface or in the glass due to undercooling of the metal. The fluorine gall is analogous to sulphate gall. The phenomenon is indicative of the fact that other fluorides besides silicon fluoride can volatilise from the melt.
