Fluoride Glasses

Research has been carried out in an attempt to find melts of binary mixtures of fluoride of the second group in the periodic table which during cooling solidify with the alkali fluorides to form glasses. It was shown that the formation of glass depends on the difference of field intensity of the cations present in the melt and always occurs when this difference is greater than 0.35.
