Fluoride in a wide variety of glasses and silicate materials can be separated by pyrohydrolosis and then determined by titration with Th. Pyrohydrolosis is accomplished is accomplished by passing steam over a mixture of sample and U3O8 at temperatures of approximately 1,000C.
