Flue Gas Cleaning In Soda-Lime Glass Production. The Neutrec Process: An Economical And Technical Comparison With Other Flue Gas Treatment Techniques (In Italian)

This article begins with a brief introduction of Solvay's contribution to the glass industry with regard to raw materials, and goes on to give some results on possible solutions available for flue gas neutralisation and recycling opportunities of the reaction products in the melting process. It was found that sodium bicarbonate offers a good flexibility as an alkaline reagent, having excellent removal performances of acid gaseous compounds. The possibility of recycling the neutralisation products is of great advantage, sodium sulphate being their main component.
