Up to four new float plants could be built in Russia under a new agreement concluded between Baltic Glass Co of St Petersburg & PPG Industries of the US. Under the agreement, the two companies will work together in Russia to produce and distribute float glass for automotive and architectural applications. PPG products would be sold in Russia through Baltic Glass, and Russian products would be sold in the US through PPG. Their planned float plants will make use of the expertise, modern technologies and know-how of PPG combined with the raw materials supplies capabilities of Baltic Glass, which has Russian Soda Company as a key shareholder. Baltic Glass & PPG are looking at setting up processing lines in Russia for coating glass, and for the production insulated glazing units and of architectural glass.
