Float Glass Surface Problems

The advantages and disadvantages of the float process are outlined in this paper and some problem areas considered. Protection of the surface of glass against weathering processes and adhesion control are two areas of growing importance to manufacturers and developing surface analytical techniques will have a major impact on our understanding of the surface chemistry involved.
