Float Glass Process

A ribbon of glass is formed on the surface of a bath of molten metal and is moved down the length of the bath from the chamber inlet to the chmaber outlet and simultaneously cooled. Between the inlet and the outlet of the bath fliud jets are directed laterally to the direction of longitudinal movement and outwardly against the opposite sides of the glass ribon tostretch it laterally and decrease its thickness below equilibrium thickness.
