Float Glass Plant.

The feed channel between a glass melting furnace and a float chamber is sealed from the outside atmosphere by two weirs, so that oxygen penetration by diffusion or joint leakage is avoided. The upstream weir, composed of a gas impervious material, dips into the glass in the channel as does the downstream weir, which can be adjusted vertically to control the glass flow into the float chamber. The float chamber and feed channel are sealed with sheet metal cladding.
