The standard method for the production of float glass is a process, where molten glass is poured onto a tin bath from which it is drawn off horizontally. By the variation of this horizontal velocity, the thickness of the glass is subsequently varied. Although this process is very effective the glass it produces may not be without flaws. An inspection system is needed which is able to differentiate between dirt on the surfaces and inner defects without affecting the detectability of inclusions.
