The announcement of 25 pending hotel construction projects in Ras al Khaimah typifies the huge and rapid expansion and diversification of the economy in the UAE. Major hotel and tourism developments are currently underway in the city. The strategy is to make the emirate an international tourism destination throughout the year. Other emirates are treading the same path. Investments by glass processors are growing to keep pace with the boom in the architectural glass market. The well-established processing industry in the UAE has relied on imported float glass to form the basis of its products. Now, however, two new float plants are being set up in the country.
