Aluminosilicate glass is a rare type of glass seldom encountered by many of today's scientific glassblowers. However, there are some unique qualities about this glass that make it indispensable for some applications. It is impermeable to Helium, extremely resistant to weathering, alkali vapor metals can be used in it, and it has a service temperature that is near 680 deg C.
