The concept of first-principles broadband dielectric spectroscopy (FPDBS) enabling a priori prediction of the dielectric function of insulating solids by computer simulation is introduced and computer software for FPBDS is developed. The developed software program, called UVSOR (Universal Virtual Spectroscope for Optoelectronics Research), can calculate the dielectric function of insulating solids from first-principles in the frequency range from zero to ultra-violet, working as a virtual broadband spectrometer in a computer.
