First Float Glass Plant For Cornelio Brennand Group

Grupo Cornelio Brennand is a fast growing industrial group from the North-East of Brazil which has an ambitious multi-year strategic plan to develop into the building materials market, starting with Companhia Brasileira de Vidros Planos (CBVP), its flagship subsidiary in charge of float glass production. Fives Stein was selected in August 2011 as the EPCM contractor for the complete process line, composed of the batch plant, the melting furnace, the tin bath, the annealing lehr and the cutting line. The aim of this plant is to set new world standards in terms of energy and operation efficiency. It will incorporate the new L.E.M® technology and an automatic glass thickness transition control system. L.E.M® . incorporates several features whose combination enables unmatched efficiency and performance, up to 20% less energy and greenhouse gas emissions than the best melting furnaces in the world. The nominal plant capacity is 800 mt/day, with a maximum pull rate of 900 mt/day. The plant is built in the state of Pernambuco, 50km north of the capital, Recife.
